Professional positions held:

• Dr Lainas is the elected Coordinator of Reproductive Endocrinology Special Interest Group (SIG) of ESHRE.
• He has also served as a Junior and Senior Deputy of the SIG Reproductive Endocrinology of ESHRE from 2014 until 2018.
• He is actively involved in the preparations of the proposals for ESHRE’s pre-congress courses (PCC) as well as campus workshops (CWS) organized by the SIG Reproductive Endocrinology. He is also involved in the new ESHRE website and its e-campus platform. Also participated at the ESHRE Junior Deputies Task Force for contributing in the future of ESHRE.
• He is also a member of the Guideline Development Group of Ovarian Stimulation and also a member of the European committee for the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in Ovarian Stimulation.

Training & Studies:

• Dr George Lainas, MD, PhD completed the first part of his undergraduate studies at the University of Insubria Medical School, Varese, Italy and then he studied at the University of Athens Medical School where he obtained his Medical Degree from.
• He completed his PhD thesis is on “GnRH agonist for triggering final oocyte maturation” and obtained his doctorate from the Aristotle University Medical School (Thessaloniki, Greece) under the supervision of Dr Stratis Kolibianakis, one of the experts in human reproduction.
• He received training at the Kings College University Hospital, London, UK at the department of Fetal Medicine and worked for the Fetal Medicine Foundation under the supervision of renowned Professor of Fetal Medicine, Dr Kypros Nicolaides.
• Basic Obstetrics and Gynecology training was undertaken at the Royal London University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK. Later, he trained in Reproductive Medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Unit of Reproductive Medicine, London UK.

Moreover, he has been an invited screener of the abstracts submitted for presentation in the annual congress of ESHRE for two consecutive years.

His research work has a significant contribution in the improvement of treatment protocols and prevention of severe complications in IVF and proves his commitment to evidence-based medicine and optimization of patient care.
