Had it not been for the attitude of reception staff on our arrival this review would be a 2/3 star review. It should also be noted that in no way this hotel is a 4.2 star hotel, for resons I'll go into. In fact it should stick firmly within 2/3 stars. I can only think there are false reviews posted to bump up their ratings. So on arrival as we were booking in we were told we could not enter our room due to a repair of an air conditioning unit. We were told that the air conditioning had been repaired, but they "wanted to make sure it was to our standard". They told us they were putting us in a better room for 1 night, but expected us to move after 12pm the following day. This we felt was strange. We've traveled the world, and yes have encountered situations where our room has not been ready or in 1 instance actual building work being done. In another a very loud cricket keeping us awake. However these were delt with sympathetically, with understanding and would go beyond our expectations. Venezia did not. Venezia did not even say sorry. Being suspicious we asked what our original room number was, and were told "I can't give you that information". I then asked asked "what happens if tomorrow it's not fixed?" Quite aggressively the reception replied "it has been fixed, we just need to make sure it's to your standard", whatever that standard is I don't know. We got booked in, paid for a couple of things, went off, settled in and waited for the next day. Clearly there's inconvinience caused as we couldn't unpack, couldn't fully relax and to some degree our, holiday was on hold for 24hrs. It's worth noting I work 52 weeks of the year, for 1 week abroad, and Venezia reception can't even say sorry. The following day I walk through reception where the same receptionist is working. As I'm walking past the fountain outside I start getting shouted at- "MR MR I'VE TRIED CALLING YOU 3 TIMES, BUT YOU'VE NOT ANSWERED". I replied I had not recieved any phone calls from them, however the receptionist continued to tell me she had (in quite an aggressive manner), to the point I said "The only call I recieved today is from my daughter", I then showed her my call logs on my mobile phone, to which she said "I believe you" (seriously!). We then checked my number on their system and it showed they had input it incorrectly. However it's clear this was not her first day in the job, so I'd expect her to know what a phone number unobtainable tone is. So we now get a key to our room, can unpack and finally settle in and start to relax and unwind. I return to reception where the same receptionist is and return the key to our first room. As I do I ask to speak to the hotel manager, the receptionist asks "Why, what's wrong". I then tell the receptionist that I was unhappy with the way I had been delt with. I told her she had not even apologised for any inconvinience caused, I told her she had not offered anything for the inconvinience, such as waiving the cost of the safe or deposit on beach towels, small little things that help us and bare no cost to the hotel, she even admitted "yes they are small". During this conversation she accuses me of 2 things- 1) wanting to stay in our first room, to which I replied "I just wanted the room I paid for". 2) I was only after money, to which I replied "I'm not stood here trying to rob you". I even asked her "If you think I'm being unreasonable, just tell me" to which the receptionist replied "No I don't think your being unreasonable". She also told me during the conversation she wanted to speak to the manager first "to tell him her side of the story". After eventually being given free beach towels I said I still wanted to speak to the manager, to which she replied "that's not going to happen", IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! well had it have happend, I may not have submitted this review. I await the hotels response and will read it with interest. I'm sure I'll be treated in their usual fashion- with contempt, deflect from the issues, blame me and not take ownership of any of the issues raised.
