Procedures
Service Summary
A thyroid assessment with endocrinology exam, thyroid ultrasound, and blood tests for FT4, TSH, anti-TPO, and anti-TG to detect thyroid gland disorders.
Possible Side Effects
Venipuncture for the thyroid panel can leave a small bruise or cause brief light-headedness. The thyroid ultrasound is non-invasive; the gel feels cool and the probe is held against the neck, which produces mild pressure and a brief sensation of needing to swallow. Neck palpation during the endocrinology exam is painless beyond mild discomfort in patients with a tender goitre.
