Short Introduction
Paleo Faliro Clinic, part of Athens Medical Group, is a major general hospital in Athens’ southern suburbs, offering comprehensive care since 1991.
About the Clinic
Paleo Faliro Clinic, located at 36 Areos Street, Paleo Faliro, Attica (Postal Code 17562), has been a significant healthcare provider since its establishment in 1991. As an integral part of the Athens Medical Group (AMG), Greece’s largest private healthcare provider, the clinic benefits from shared expertise, standardized protocols, advanced technology access, and the strong reputation of the AMG network, which aims for service levels comparable to leading international medical centers. The clinic underwent a major expansion in 2002, growing to over 4,500 square meters to meet increasing demand. It features approximately 84 beds (though some sources mention 100), a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with around 8 beds, and 5 operating rooms. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including CT, MRI, modern ultrasound, and specialized equipment for departments like Ophthalmology, Urology, and Vascular Surgery, aligning with AMG’s history of pioneering advanced medical tech in Greece. While specific on-site conveniences like dining or banking aren’t explicitly confirmed for this location, they are generally available within the AMG network. The clinic is staffed by experienced medical specialists and highly trained nursing personnel, including physicians with director-level roles, PhDs, and international credentials (e.g., Dr. Christos Daras, Director of Orthopedics; Dr. Georgios Mazis, Director-level Orthopedic Surgeon). The presence of a former Head of International Patients and internationally trained staff suggests a capacity to serve international clientele, supported by AMG’s broader medical tourism activities and collaborations, such as its relationship with Imperial College Healthcare UK. Patient feedback for the clinic itself is limited in public domains, with its reputation largely relying on the AMG brand and the high ratings of individual affiliated physicians found on booking platforms.

I was hospitalized in the ICU for about a month. I had the most unforgettable hospitalization, in terms of behavior, care, attention and especially the smile, the immediate response to meet my special needs due to illness. All of them a unique team, doctors and nurses, harmoniously collaborating, kind and with ethics. A very big THANK YOU to everyone. They deserve 5 stars. The unpleasant thing is for the food, small quantities, cheap quality and bad cooking. 2 stars and with difficulty. Kisses to the ICU!!!

My wife broke her ankle at the Acropolis during our vacation, the ambulance took us to this facility. She was seen right away and diagnosed with a broken and dislocated ankle that required urgent surgery to avoid further complications. It was a very stressful time being in a foreign country not knowing the quality of care she was about to receive. Upon our return to California, our Orthopedic doctor at Kaiser told us that everything looks good and seems like Dr. Christo Daras and the junior doctors did a good job with my wife's surgery. We had to pay with credit card upfront before we could see any detailed information of the services provided in paper. This was cause of anxiety on our part but eventually they were provided upon her discharge.

For privacy reasons, I have chosen to keep some details of my experience private. I am very disappointed with my experience. I was told that a general consultation in Athens would normally cost around €50–100, so I paid on the higher end for the visit and was asked to do further examinations, which cost me another approximately €200. A few days later, I was still experiencing pain and had to spend another around €300 on further exams. I was extremely disappointed that I kept having to pay more and more, while still not having a clear understanding of what was causing my problem. Eventually, I felt that I needed to find another doctor who specializes in my symptoms, which meant even more expense. What made the experience even worse was that I had no other solution but to return to the same hospital for further examinations. During one of my visits, while the nurse was taking my blood for a blood test, the receptionist came over with the card machine and asked me to pay at that moment. I found this extremely uncomfortable, UNPROFESSIONAL and inappropriate timing. I was literally having my blood taken, yet I was being asked to deal with payment at the same time. Also, when I asked a bucket to vomit the head nurse made a face of unwillingness, if I vomit on the floor, you will have to clean it, why making me feel worse of not wanting to just giving me something to vomit? I really don't understand this attitude!!!!! I was left on the ER for 2 hours to get an IV drip and the exams. This amount of time I could just go to a public hospital, why would I go to a private hospital and waited for so long to be treated? Overall, I feel totally disappointed with this experience. I spent a significant amount of money on consultations and examinations and was left feeling frustrated, worried and financially burdened. I expected to feel listened to, supported and reassured as a patient, but unfortunately that was not my experience. I would not recommend this experience to others. For reasons of privacy, I have chosen to keep certain details of my experience private. I am very disappointed with my experience. I paid around €80 for the visit and then around €200 for tests. A few days later, as I was still in pain, I had to spend another around €300 for additional tests. Despite the expenses, I still did not have a clear picture of my problem and eventually had to seek another doctor. The experience at the hospital was also very unpleasant. While they were taking my blood, the receptionist came with the POS and asked me to pay at that moment. I found it very uncomfortable and unprofessional. I stayed in the emergency room for about 2 hours for IVs and tests. For such a long wait, I wonder why anyone would choose a private hospital over a public one. Furthermore, when I asked for a container to throw up in, the nurse in charge was reluctant. If I threw up on the floor, you should clean it up. Why make me feel even worse instead of just giving me a container? Overall, I felt disappointed, anxious and financially burdened. As a patient I expected to feel listened to, supported and treated with more care and professionalism. Unfortunately, this was not my experience and I would not recommend it.
