Procedures
Service Summary
An eye exam covering visual acuity, intraocular pressure, keratometry, corneal thickness, Schirmer test, dilated fundus exam, and visual field testing.
Possible Side Effects
Intraocular pressure measurement uses anaesthetic drops with brief stinging; air-puff tonometry produces a startling brief puff. The Schirmer test places small paper strips inside the lower lids, which causes mild irritation and watering for several minutes. Dilating drops produce blurred near vision and light sensitivity for four to six hours, with a rare risk of acute angle-closure glaucoma in predisposed eyes. Visual field testing and keratometry are non-contact and produce no side effects.
