Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a radiation-free diagnostic scan that uses a strong magnetic field to produce detailed images of organs, joints and soft tissue.
Possible Side Effects
MRI is generally very safe and uses no ionising radiation. A small number of patients experience anxiety or claustrophobia inside the scanner. When an intravenous contrast agent (gadolinium) is used, mild and transient reactions can occur (warmth, nausea, headache), and rare allergic-type reactions are possible — always disclose previous reactions, allergies, kidney problems, pregnancy or breast-feeding, and the presence of any pacemaker, defibrillator, cochlear implant, surgical clips or other metallic implants before the scan.

What to Expect
Before the exam: no special preparation is required. Patients with metallic implants, pacemakers or claustrophobia should inform the clinic in advance. No fasting is required. The examination is non-invasive and painless. After the exam: the radiology report in English is provided the same day, findings are reviewed with the patient and a referral is arranged if further evaluation is required.
Duration
Single examination — approximately 20 to 45 minutes depending on body area. Same-day appointment available.
Cancellation Policy
