Procedures
Service Summary
A workup for arterial hypertension with broad blood panel, electrolytes, thyroid tests, ECG, cardiac, adrenal, and renal ultrasound, and eye fundus exam.
Possible Side Effects
Venipuncture for the broad lab and electrolyte panel produces a small bruise and brief light-headedness. Twenty-four-hour urine collection (when included) has no physical side effects but is logistically demanding. The funduscopy uses dilating eye drops that produce blurred near vision and light sensitivity for four to six hours. Cardiac, adrenal, and renal ultrasound are non-invasive with cool gel and brief probe pressure. ECG electrode adhesive can cause mild skin irritation.
