Eleftherios, Athens, offering both classical hemodialysis and online hemodiafiltration (HDF) on B-Braun Dialog+ online machines across three separate dialysis rooms and supported by a dual reverse-osmosis water-treatment system. A separate serological isolation unit with autonomous equipment allows patients who are Hepatitis B positive to be dialysed in isolation, and a dedicated emergency-cases room supports acute presentations. A physician is on site 24 hours a day.
What is Included
Each session includes the hemodialysis treatment — classical hemodialysis or online hemodiafiltration — with single-use dialyser and needles, and care by medical and nursing staff experienced in nephrology. Comfort at the station includes an electric bed or reclining chair, an individual television with headphones, a choice of music, free Wi-Fi and a tablet, and snacks and beverages. Free door-to-door transport to and from the unit is available by ambulance or multi-seat vehicle. For patients insured by EOPYY or another fund, treatment is covered without additional charge, and European citizens holding a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) are accepted.
What to Expect
The treating nephrologist sets the dialysis schedule, most often three sessions per week. To arrange treatment, call the unit with your preferred day and time; if that slot is not available, your preference is recorded and you are contacted when one opens. Bring only any injectable medication that must be given during the session. Patients who are serology-positive are dialysed in the separate isolation unit, and serology status is confirmed before treatment. At the unit you are received at a dialysis station where staff prepare and monitor your treatment, and a lounge is available for anyone accompanying you.
Duration
A standard hemodialysis or hemodiafiltration session lasts approximately four hours, not including preparation and recovery time.
