We stayed at the Enorme Santanna Island Hotel in Sissi, Crete, and overall, the place is magnificent. The setting is splendid, the sea view is incredible, and the rooms are comfortable and very well maintained. The housekeeping service and all the staff (waiters, reception, etc.) are truly excellent, always smiling and helpful. The All Inclusive concept is very comprehensive, with several quality restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, we arrived during the last week of the season, and we were therefore unpleasantly surprised to see several areas gradually closing without prior notice: the sushi restaurant, the Trattoria Bella, the Aperol Spritz bar, the snack bar, the Nutellaria, and even the swimming pool closed their doors over the course of several days. It's a shame, as it somewhat spoiled the experience, especially for a stay booked at the very end of the season. As for the village of Sissi, it's a charming and peaceful place, but quite small. Without a car, there aren't many activities to do in the surrounding area. There's also a noticeable lack of resources on the island, as Crete is experiencing economic difficulties. Despite this, the hotel remains an exceptional place with wonderful staff and a dreamlike setting. We would gladly return, but during a slightly busier time of year!

The hotel is divided into several sections, which could be appealing in itself; however, the route between them crosses a busy road. Many cars pass by, which are not only loud but also emit an unpleasant smell of exhaust fumes. This is particularly bothersome in the restaurant area, as you sometimes sit right next to passing cars, making the smell very noticeable. Furthermore, it's incomprehensible that guests are allowed to smoke in the restaurant despite the doors being open. This is completely outdated and very unpleasant, especially with small children. Unfortunately, the spa area is only accessible for an additional fee, although it would have been preferable if it were included in the hotel price or at least communicated more clearly. The food is definitely a highlight – the quality is very good and impressed us. The rooms are also beautifully designed: spacious, modern, clean, and overall very comfortable. A clear drawback, however, is the hot water supply – it sometimes takes 10 to 15 minutes for the water to get hot, which is very inconvenient for everyday use. The fitness room, while clean and equipped with new equipment, feels somewhat uninviting and rather sparsely furnished. The most disruptive aspect, however, was the construction site right in the middle of the dining area. The fact that work continued during mealtimes severely impacted the atmosphere and was hardly acceptable for guests. Overall, the hotel feels rather dull and not very family-friendly. It can only be recommended with reservations for a relaxing stay, especially with children.
