Service Summary
The assessment of iron sufficiency involves several key tests to evaluate iron levels in the body. A General Blood Test provides a comprehensive view of overall health and can offer clues about iron deficiency or excess. Serum Iron measures the amount of circulating iron in the blood, while Ferritin reflects the body’s iron stores, giving an indication of iron reserves in tissues. TIBC (Total Iron-Binding Capacity) measures the blood’s capacity to bind iron, often elevated in iron deficiency. Together, these tests help diagnose conditions such as iron deficiency anemia, iron overload, and other disorders related to iron metabolism.
